Housing

One of our classmates asked about the available options for places to stay.  I replied that our class headquarters will be Kahn Hall, a nine-year-old dorm on North Professor Street across from East Hall.  When sign-ups become available, we’ll be able to reserve a double room there.  Or if we prefer, we can make our own housing arrangements elsewhere.

The Hotel at Oberlin (the successor to the Oberlin Inn) will be sold out.  But a Google search in October 2018 shows a number of bed-and-breakfast-type establishments in town, including:

The Ivy Tree Inn and Garden, 440-774-4510
The Buckeye and the Frog, 440-990-6500
Shurtleff Cottage, 440-774-8033
Oberlin Back House Cottage, 216-990-0042

On the outskirts of Oberlin there are:
Wild Goose Gardens, 440-714-2210
1830 Hallauer House, 440-774-3046

Airbnb has numerous listings somewhat further away, including cottages on Lake Erie that may be sold out for Memorial Day weekend.

Then there are at least a dozen hotels in Amherst and Elyria, between 9 and 12 miles from campus.  These include Best Western, Country Inn & Suites, Courtyard by Marriott, Days Inn, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Homewood Suites, Quality Inn, Motel 6, Red Roof Inn, and Super 8.

Good luck!

There's a more complete list of more than three dozen Bed & Breakfasts on this page provided by the college.

Thanks for the housing lists. If I do plan to stay in Kahn Hall, when and how does one register for a room? What are the costs? Is it possible to reserve for an extra night after the end of the reunion, or will the dorm be closed on Monday the 27th? Perhaps this info is listed somewhere on the Reunion Website but I don't seem to be able to find it.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Sue Angell from the Alumni Association reports that reunion registration packets will be mailed from the Alumni Association in early March. When you receive your packet, you can register and pay for reunion events and Kahn Hall housing.

I'm checking to see whether the dorm will be closed on Monday.  If you have specific questions on pricing, contact Sue at sangell@oberlin.edu and she'll email you an answer.

I've learned that the dorms will close on Monday.  In other words, they'll only be available for three nights:  Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

I'm also told that the rooms at Kahn Hall each have two beds, and each bed will cost $40 a night.  If you're a single person and want a whole room to yourself, you'll have to pay for both beds, though this arrangement is somewhat discouraged because it reduces by one the number of alumni who can be accomodated there.
