Carl Mirikitani died in 1983 at the age of 35.
In college, Carl was an incredibly talented debater. He enjoyed discussing politics from morning until night. Unusual at Oberlin for his Republican leanings. He was a good and loyal friend.

Carl was roomate and friend
Later (post my time at Oberlin) would visit him in Honolulu
We had a deal : if I could get there, I had a place to stay
His first marrige ended in divorce, but not until after he and his wife (Eda Sakamoto) had a son. I was honored that he nickname'd him "Chip"
Sadly, Chip was murdered some years ago during a robbery in Palo Alto (he was a clerk in the store) 2001
Cark K Mirikitani died too young, an anyerism (from memory)
Fond memories of Carl and his family, good people
Republican ? well, I recall him saying that he joined the party because there were so few in Hawaii, that it was easy to rise to the top
