David Kempner

A graduate of Oberlin College and the University of Michigan Law School, Dave joined the law firm of Pear Sperling Eggan & Daniels in Ann Arbor in 1992 and worked almost exclusively in the field of labor and employment law.  In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing and music.  He is survived by his wife Patty, three daughters, a sister, and four granddaughters.  Donations may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

I remember David fondly. He always seemed to be the coolest guy in the room. Condolences to his family.

It was my good fortune to stay in touch with Dave because we each lived in Ann Arbor and practiced law in metro Detroit. He was a fine, highly-regarded lawyer and a great raconteur. In fact, I asked him to represent my wife when she opened a tutoring business in Ann Arbor. It was a shock to hear of his sudden passing. He was a good man.

What Whitney said.

David was a ton of fun.  He was able to do a lot, without ever seeming to take himself or the world around him terribly seriously.  He was an all state athlete (in golf if I remember), and watching sports with him was a blast.  I remember fondly a road trip with David to the Ohio Athletic Conference basketball tournament in 1969, where the two of us comprised a large chunk of the cheering section for our team.
